"Must Be a Cop" is our "punk" song, about low-key bad cops. Recently, a police car pulled in front of me and took my parking spot. Hence, this song: basically "ACAB" at it's most innocuous. Sonically, we blended woozy guitars with a steadily-building world beat that's intended to evoke constant motion, even when bad stuff happens.
lyrics
Circle the lot
Must be a cop
With Grizz in his teeth
As he jacks the last spot
Take another lap
Curse karma, she has failed you again
Aimless or not
We’re all gonna rot
Preach to the choir
Already shot
I see dead ones on the buy-in
I see dead kids skating lines at the mall
Selling pot, stealing my spot
Slipping minds lead straight lines down
Sundays for smiters
Doghouse on fire
Bad hook, don’t bite it
I’ll help you fight it
Here’s another one
Steal away with you
Cursed from the start
Believe it or not
There’s a reason you feel like you do
I see dead ones on the buy-in
I see dead kids skating lines, then they’re gone
Selling pot
Slipping minds lead straight lines down

Another great album - dean wareham, joanna gruesome, lonely tourist, dorotea, the chills, manhattan love suicides & spearmint are all highlights but the whole lot is pretty darn great really martin kiosk
These tracks are straightforward and concise, never relying on gauzy metaphors to complicate her declarations of love. Bandcamp Album of the Day Dec 20, 2017
